The Swiss Alps!

The Swiss Alps! I have read about this mountain range and seen pictures, but nothing was going to prepare us for the sheer size and magnificence of them. We stayed in a small tourist town at the base of the Jungfrau: Europe's tallest mountain (just over 4000m). Interlaken is the name of this insanely pretty town and as the name suggests, it is between two big lakes. The population of the town is only 5500 and I have absolutely no doubt that everyone who lives there works in some capacity to support the tourism industry. Every building I saw was a supermarket, restaurant, Swiss Army Knife shop or hotel/hostel. In a place so beautiful, you couldn't care less that you are mixed in with thousands of other tourists.
Interlaken is Europe's original ski resort and has a long history of holiday makers coming to traverse the slopes. It is also home to the world's first 'fat farm' I'm told.
We went up 1000m into the Alps on a train and stopped at a little place called Grindelwald. I won't say much more than this, but instead let the photos speak for themselves. In saying this, these photos do absolutely no justice to the sights I saw. Just wish I knew how to ski... More thumbnails ...
