9th July – Departure day Cuba. I am leaving Cuba already! The weird thing with traveling and trying to do something every day is that on the one hand time flies by but on the other hand it also seems to have been ages since you first got to that place. I think I know Cuba now and could come back with knowing my way around easily. And that is not usually something normal to say after a week right?

Anyways, Elsa and I ran around town a little to go to markets get a couple souvenirs, eat chocolate and have small freak out attacks because I was leaving and because her friend got a visa to go to England for 2 months (big deal here!) Now from what I heard is that it is easy for Cubans to leave the country, but it is difficult to get into another one. So they have to have invitations and letters from friends or family stating that they want them to come visit and that they will pay for all of their time when they go to the foreign country. It is insane!

10th July – Today was the first meeting with my travel group. We met in the lobby at night after I already got to know a couple more people from mine and other trips in the hotel lobby. We went to the beach and now I know why people love this place when they want to spend the cliché spring break. It is great water and beach and apart from that you do not need to speak Spanish because everything is listed first in English and then in Spanish. We got bored after a couple of hours and realized that if we were drunk and laying on the beach or still in the hotel room then it would be an amazing time. But in our state it was nice to simply relax a little more for a couple of hours.

When we went out to dinner what I saw was much different than what they serve in the beginning of the day on the market that I found. In comparison to fresh fruit, vegetables, tacos, tortillas, tamales (all with t..) at this place all you could get was with mayonnaise and fried. Literally everything. We had fish tacos, fries, filled chilli fried… the pool session and the daiquiry made it look a little more like a healthy adventure J
