4/12/2010 - Saturday
We arrived at Bariloche bus station around 8pm, feeling very much like zombies after the 28 hours of bus travel.  After finding out that our hostel was over 5 kilometres away we shared a taxi with a person from the bus and found our hostel easily after being dropped off at the end of the road.

We stayed at Tango Inn Downtown, one of three Tango Inn hostels in Bariloche.  The main reason we stayed at this one was because they served pancakes for breakfast, plus it was located close to the centre of the town and also very close to pubs and clubs around the town.  We also caught up with Rob and Maree, the couple that we met back in Punta Arenas, and Puerto Natales, as well as meeting a few new Israeli friends.

5/12/2010 - Sunday
In the morning we caught the bus a few kilometres down the road and hired bikes to take around Circuito Chico, a pleasant ride around Bariloche which is a 20km route around the outskirts of Bariloche, with great views of the surrounding region.

At the top of the hill we visited a lavender shop, which was still under construction but the owner said he planned to build a patio and open up a cafe too.  About halfway through I got a puncture and so we spent 20 minutes replacing the tyre. By the end of the bike trip I was so tired, especially after some grueling hill climbs and not having ridden a bike for over two years, but it was worth it.

After returning the bikes, we caught the bus to Cierro Campanario, a lookout high above the town with panoramic views.  The only way up was riding on a chairlift, and it certainly does feel weird going up a chair without skis on...
I can't say this enough, but Bariloche is probably one of the prettiest places I have ever visited, and my favourite on the trip so far.

6/12/2010 - Monday
We were all still very tired from the bike ride the day before so the day was spent just chilling out, doing some laundry, and watching Liverpool FC beat Aston Villa 3-0.  I also received news that I had passed all my final subjects at uni and so was a graduate! Huzzah.

That night we found a small local bar and went in for a few drinks.  By now we were used to seeing wild dogs all over the place, probably more in Chile than Argentina, but we were surprised to see a dog sitting inside the bar.  By 11pm there were about 5 dogs inside, but then two of them decided to have a fight and the loser ended up running out.  Only in Argentina...

7/12/2010 - Tuesday
Walked to the bus station and back to book tickets for Mendoza.  Had a gigantic lasagne at El Boliche de Alberto.  In the afternoon said goodbye to Rob and Maree, who were heading to Santiago before flying to Mexico.

At night we found a small but expensive restaurant, Kandahar, and I had a rabbit dish. The presentation was genius (see pictures).

8/12/2010 - Wednesday
Visited 10 or more chocolate shops trying to get free samples, but we were feeling bad after a few so we ended up buying some in half of those stores.  Packed up after lunch and walked to the station, then boarded our bus headed for Mendoza.
