Chinonceaux, Amboise, Chambord and Chiverny..these are 4 of the most beautiful and well known Renaissance Chateaux in the world. I tried to see them all in one day...silly woman!

I had booked a day tour so hopped the TGV at 7:40 to meet the tour in a small town that I can not remember the name. I am going to be very general here as it was a totally hectic day. Are they worth seeing? per day! Should you get there early? Oh yes..for some reason every parent of a toddler or infant seemed to have the same idea on the same day, " Let's take our little see something that he or she has no clue about and annoy the hell out other people." It was bad, seriously bad. At one point I felt like I was in a day care.

That being said, being given an hour to see a chateau was ludicrous. Especially at Chambord which is magnificent. It was my favourite followed by Chinonceaux and Amboise ( where Leonardo da Vinci is buried).

Got back in time to have supper on the Champs de Lysees and waited for the Arc du Triomphe to light up. My luck...only half of the lights were working. Back to my 60s Retro Hotel and the lights went out at 11:00. Time to go home seeing as how I can not win the lottery and move to England or Normandy!
