Saturday was a beautiful, crisp autumn day. We decided to take advantage of it, go for a drive, and enjoy some of the last "top down" days in the car before winter hits. Very little surprises us now, as we drive through the streets of Naples. I've even found myself adapting to the driving here, and just a few days ago I blew through a red light because I didn't feel like sitting there. It was riposo (rest time in the afternoon) and so no other traffic was approaching. Why sit at the red light? I just turned left and continued on my way.
Traffic was heavy on Saturday as we made our way through Vomero and everyone was out shopping, which means there were lots of pedestrians to avoid along with the usual scooters. After navigating the narrow tangle of one-way streets, we finally reached the 13th century Castel Sant'Elmo. The castle has a commanding view of the entire bay of Naples, the isle of Capri, Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius, and the oldest historical sections of the city below.
