After a long bus ride south to the argentinian border (which involved our bus boarding a boat to cross the river- how cool) we arrived in ushuaia- the most southern city in the world. Its true that the travel agencies play up on this hype a bit, but it is quite cool to be in the most souther place in the world, even if we arent doing all that much here.
With our Alix and Humbert in tow, we booked ourselves on a boat that travelled the Beagle Channel (the closest weŽll get to antartica) and sailed the waters for a few hours taking in a lot of bid wildlife, icy moutains as well as a colony of sea lions. Our boat got so close to the sea lions we could smell how bad they smelt, however it was almost refreshing to realise that these animals do exist outside of a zoo environment.
Other than the cruise, weŽve hike a few mountains taking in panoramic views of the tip of the earth as well as catching a few more glaciers here and there.
We have plans to attack the national park thats around the corner soon, but that all depends on the weather, which in ushuaia seems to never stay the same (rainy one day sunnythe next).
