truely welcome to tourist land.
souvineer stores flogging junk selling for the low price of 10usd. bars and restaurants filling the main street with prices that could rival sydney, luxuary 5 star hotels full of american tourists raving how cheap everything is.. this truely is an american paridise.
for us, we managed to find great accommodation for cheap *thanks to some help* and have enjoyed thelastfew days here only because we'veescaped the crowds visiting less busy beaches and eating local food. the beaches are actually quite stunning and are as beautiful as any travel brochure would advertise / after all we are in the carribean sea.
we went snorkling yesterday and the reef was spectacular. thousands of schools of fish, squids, and beautiful colourful parrot fish. the reefs in playa del carmen managed to avoid alot of destruction because of the hurricanes, but the beachfront wasbadly hurt. all the beautiful palms that would have kept us cool, GONE.
today samson has gone diving in two of the most beautiful reefs in playa del carmen, and hopefully the proimise of seeing turtles comes through.
in the afternoon, we are catching a ferry to cozumel, with plans for more diving, beaching and moting around town!
adios!
