After waking a little too late this morning, we boarded what was supposed to be a short bus ride to Chichen Itza.
Our bus was at 11 and we asked the lady how long it would take. She said 1.5 HOURS. After travelling through every last village road possible, we ended up arriving at 1.30. We think thats what she tried to explain to us to start off with.
We spent the next few hours at Chichen itza and came face to face with coach loads of tourists direct from cancun. lovely! samson and i ran away from these tourists as fast as possbile and explored the site based on where the crowds werent. It ended up being a plesant day filled with ruins more ruins and of course shopping. we bought the best value wooden carved mask for 40 pesos! *4us*
with bags in tow *free baggage storage at the site SCORE* we wandered around the bus stop thinking where the hell were we to go next
Our shitty LP *it hadnt covered the last 4 cities that we were in* yet again had no valladolid section, so we swinged it and by chance met an aussie at the bus station without a clue as well. Together we somehow found a hostel to stay. It was samsons birthday, so we found a beautiful restaurant in a trnaquil courtyard, donned in our best *trainers, pants and a black singlet!* and lived the night up!
the town square *zocalo* had a live band belting out the classic tunes, so we joined hordes of local oldies dancing the night away on the street.. how romantic!

. having a general idea that we wanted to go to tulum, we had three options. valladolid, coba or tulum. With everyone around us already having organised their travel, we decided to take the first collectivo that passed by and we take us. 45 minutes later, we were in valladolid. Our shitty LP *it hadnt covered the last 4 cities that we were in* yet again had no valladolid section, so we swinged it and by chance met an aussie at the bus station without a clue as well.
