That evening we drove up to the top of the hill in Townsville to see the sunset which was great, but the ferocious mosquitoes were not. Back at the hostel we decided to take a quick dip in the 'hot spa' only to find it was freezing cold - nevermind, (on the downside I managed to then leave my bikini in my dorm and forgot to pack it when I left the next day).
Monday the guys gave me a lift to a town called Ingham where I waited a good few hours for my bus to Mission Beach.
Unfortunately the bus station I'd been dropped off at was quite a way from the hostel I was heading for.....around a mile with heavy luggage which wasn't particularly pleasant. After what seemed like an enternity, and being hassled many times by drunk locals since the rugby had been on the night before I made it and booked into the Civic Guest House. I caught up with the Scottish guys Alan, Phil, Alan and Simon in the hostel, went to the local market (not a patch on others) and we went to the local aquarium, Reef HQ. We paid extra to see the Imax film about the barrier reef which I found disappointing as it did the reef no justice to its real beauty and I've seen more interesting docos on the BBC but the aquarium itself was really nice and a good way to spend an afternoon, especially if you're there to see feeding time with the sharks.
