On the way to Rotorura we stopped at Waitomo caves - an underground system of caves and waterfalls. I did the 'Haggis Honking Holes' trip which involved going underground and abseiling down waterfalls (which is pretty hard as you instinctively let go of the rope to stop this huge pressure of water going in your face) and climbing through small holes. I don't have any pics as I don't have a waterproof camera but I do have some prints on their way to my folks according to the company. I do have pics of our sexy outfits though - wetsuits, wellies, hardhat and a miner's headtorch - we looked like we should be in some weird 70's Sci-Fi movie or something.
We then drove to Rotorua and stopped to watch some of our group roll down a little hill in an inflatable ball containing a bucket of water (wet zorbing). In Rotorua we stopped at the Base hostel (crap) which wanted $35 for 2 hour bike hire! Didn't do much else and as you can see we seem to spend all day on the bus and arrive at the town late so everything is closed and there's not much to do. Getting fed up with it already as the driver's don't seem to have any good info on free activities or anything else to do other than the trips/activities they offer.
