A couple of people on the bus I knew from the trip up North but I also got chatting to an Italian guy, Nico. After a coffee stop and supermarket stop we arrived at Hot Water Beach, a place where there is geothermal activity under certain areas of the sand so you can dig yourself a hole and have a DIY hot spa.

We then arrived at our accommodation, a holiday park in Haihai where we had our own portacabin-style rooms. We went for a wlk along the coast to a really nice beach called Cathedral Cove, then I booked to do the sea kayaking trip. We had double kayaks to I took the front and my Italian friend Nico took the back so he would also have to steer the rudder. We had this eccentric guide called Carlos who was really cool and took us through caves in the cliffs and through a cave into a huge blowhole. In the blowhole, Carlos opened up a storage hole in a kayak which contained glasses, orange juice and cookies - fantastic suprise as we were starving!

Back at the park, our guide Nemo cooked up a BBQ as we'd all chipped in some cash. Not a patch on the meat I had in Argentina, and decided I don't like mussels, even freshly caught, but the mashed kumara potatoes were amazing and I had a happy belly that night, plus it got us all chatting which was good as we have a lot of time to come on that bus....
