On a recommendation a local guy we took a really quick trip across to Bohol to visit the Tarsiers. These are little primates that are so small that they could sit in the palm of your hand if you were allowed to hold them.
We took the ferry across to Bohol and managed to find somewhere to stay and a glass of wine. Finding a glass of wine felt like a victory as we headed out for dinner and managed to find an unlicensed restuarant. Tagbillaran doesn't really have many restaurants so we headed off to the American diner with a twist. The twist being the waitresses are deaf and you phone the kitchen from your table phone to place your order. All good until I decided I wanted a knife and fork and had to phone the kitchen. Only kidding. Service was excellent. Again this was one of those towns where everything closes down at 10pm. So where do you get a drink - the only hotel in town where we sat in flip flops in the reception drinking wine listening to piano music - very sedate but nice.
The following day we headed off to the visitors centre to meet the little primate and they are so cute. I will attached photos shortly. They are so small that they remind me of those little bear clips I had as a child. And they have these huge eyes that are bigger then there brains. Trust me when you see the photos you will understand. Oh and Prince Charles has met one, they proudly have his picture up in the visitor centre. He didn't make it to Bohol, only Manila so the little Tarsier had to travel to meet him.
If you go before the tourist vans show up or when its raining and there are not many tourist there they will put them in your hand, on your shoulder and on your head without even asking. They are very cute and I wonder if they bite? You should have gone to the south end of the island and onto Panglao where there are numerous resturants and bars as well as a large hotel, country club. We stayed ... show all
