Still Kickin!
Entry 9 of 11 | show all | print this entry |
Hi everyone,
Well they do say that when they do something in Buenos Aires they do it right, and that is true even for parasites. After becoming quite good friends with the clinic, today is going to be a new day I can feel it.
Over the last few days I have experienced the funniest things, there is always music and excitement, on my way to the doctor i got caught in a street parade!!! It was crazy. Last night I caught an hour of a live drum show that is put on every Monday in a large stadium called Le Tempo De Bomba---it was really an Argentinian version of drums and STOMP. It was also quite amazing. The even better part of the whole thing is a cab ride wherever you want to go costs max 5 CND. Which makes it convenient to go for just parts of shows here and there (thank god for that!)
The people I'm couch surfing with right now are two lesbians who are studying in the seminary (the only lesbian friendly one in Argentina), one from Cleveland one from Paraguay (who makes the most amazing smelling food!) and their cat..."Mary", a little anti climactic after Rosendo Fritz, but they are just as wonderful and welcoming. They are trying to get Esther (the Paraguayan) a visa to come to Canada and are trying to get me to reassure her that its not that cold :) (I bet you can all attest to that).
Today I plan to return to the Evita Peron cemetery in Recoleta and see the Japanese Gardens that were given to the Spanish as a gift from the Japanese government to Argentina. Palermo, where i am staying is a beautiful green, Jewish area and there are parks all over the place. Maybe Ill sit down beside one of the friendly couples (public displays of affection are VERY welcome here) and hang out.
Have a good one... Amanda
