The World Will Take Care Of You
Entry 8 of 11 | show all | print this entry |
Hi everyone, Well its been a wild few days and not the ones that I want to brag about. After the wonderful steak dinner and the constant bragging, I got the good ol´ ¨parisito touristica¨. (if you didnt understand that the word starts with a d, and ends with an ¨ia¨¨.) So why am i telling everyone I know that I have been sick for the last few days, well, read on there is an important message. Anyway, yesterday started off fine and dandy. I went out with my friends from Chile, Barbara and Ian, who happened to be visiting BA. Our destination: Recoleta, the cemetary which Evita Peron is housed. I asked them if they wanted to get something to eat, where they hesitantly told me that they had left all of their bank cards and money at home and were struggling as to what to do next. Being my friends, I took out money and crossed my fingers that I would get it back later somehow. (for some reason its not like home here they dont use bank cards and credit cards, etc. just good old large wads of cash). I felt happy I could help and knew that the karma would come back to me.
The day was nice, but not going as planned as i stopped at every baño along the way to the cemetary. After I couldnt take it anymore I returned to the hostel which i had already checked out of. They let me stay in my old bed even though they were full and I slept the afternoon away. The kindness was incredible. Then the two guys in the bunk next door to me came and gave me gatorade, took my temp and found some electrolytes for me. I could not believe the amount of love and kindness that was given to me by complete strangers. After that, I made my way over to my next destination: alejandro and mariannas house where they receieved me and let me sleep from then on. This afternoon when i was still in bed, they took me to the hospital where after 4 hours we discovered a parasite. Ale basically wasted his entire day with me, a complete stranger, staying in his house for free, translating things that he probably never wanted to say. The point: the kindnesss and charity of the world keeps us safe. We are always taken care of in times of need. Hope you are all well... Amanda
