Hi everyone,
Anxious at work you await another exciting travelouge. Yesterday and today were equally eventful. Yesterday i took the cable car and funicular up to the top of a mountain where a 14 ft virgin Mary statue sits. I figure its what keeps the birthrate down as this thing was bigger than the David in Florence. I hung out with a retired writer from the Toronto Star (very cultured am i meeting people from toronto!) who was really cool and has pretty much been around the world and walked the Camino in Spain (Pilgrammage). As for food, I have no idea what i ate for lunch or dinner, but it was delicious and wrapped in a banana leaf. ´¨humifrites¨¨ perhaps¿ Anyway I have realized that its not just in canada, but here in chile no one wakes up at 5 am demanding breakfast except for me so i went for a jog in the beautiful parc forestal and found that although the virgin watches over the city like a Nonnam the men are very...umm...forward about how their feelings of gringinas (white chicks) in spandex. ;) it was an ego boost for a while and then just became like background noise. i ran through the huge fish market, which funny enough played old 90´s dance music with each stall competing using their own DJ!
WIERD! Today I met up with the two brazilian girls that i met on the street yesterday and we took a day trip to Igles Negro (which fyi is not an island) to see the house of a very famous poet. It was pretty cool. Tonight there is a rooftop bbq and then i plan to salsa! The weather is completely amazing and i miss you all If you made it to the end felicitaciones! bye for now... ;) Amanda More thumbnails ...
