Things have been going well at CHRAJ. I have been given the task of organising the nurses human rights lectures at the local training college. I've been reading through old lectures from previous years and have compiled a course syllabus. Next week we will begin to update and rewrite the lectures and I'm hoping that I'll be able to present one or two over the course of the next few months. I was also asked to join in on CHRAJ's weekly radio broadcast at Eagle FM in Cape Coast. Today, with about 10 minutes notice, I was told that I would be joining in on an interview, the topic would be freedom of speech and the media.

I spent the next few minutes furiously scribbling notes onto a piece of scrap paper and was then told that we needed to leave for the broadcast. Once at the studio I was greeted with delightful conditioned air and was shown into a recording booth with my two other colleagues. The show was partly in English (simply for my benefit) and in Fante. When the MC asked me several questions about freedom of speech I tried best as I could to give general but interesting examples from around the world. I was caught a bit off guard but I think it went OK.

I've also been checking out local printers and getting quotes for Youth Alive! It's a slow process as most of the time the only person who can give you the quote is out of the office, or the computers are not working, stuff like that. Sossah and I are planning on going to Accra this Friday to get some more quotes from printers. The last time I was in Accra I found it a pretty intimidating place. I'm keen to get back there so that I can learn the 'lay of the land', especially for when I need to pick people up at the airport. There are supposed to be some really good supermarkets in Accra and I'm dying to check them out and stock up on cheese and cured meats. Strangely I've been really craving Chinese food lately, so I'm looking to satisfy that need while in Accra as well.

Most of my housemates are out of town this week, so it should be a pretty quiet week. Pam, Erin and Bala are spending a week in the northern province, travelling around by bus on some of the worst roads in Ghana. I'm a bit jealous of the fact that their travelling in the muslim dominated north, but not jealous of the bone shaking journey they'll be on all week. Haley is in Accra and then travelling around the Volta region when her dad arrives on Thursday. I'm taking it easy here, trying to stay away from the ants that have invaded our kitchen, and getting ready for the weekend.
