The front desk in-charge Sorawit speaks a good smattering of English (very difficult in Thailand and in Hong Kong to find anyone who can speak English) and is kind enough to walk us through a map and gives us tips of finding good eat-outs and shopping joints. He suggests that we spend the remainder of the day at Pratunam Place in Indra Market. We take a cab (get to know the rates before, the drivers usually quote double, u state the base rate and then find common ground) to Pratunam
We enter Indra Market to find a really crowded mall with small lanes (which are also called Soi within the confines of a building) and shops overflowing with goods ranging from electronics to bags, footwear, artefacts, luggage and sundry. Everyone is busy haggling/paying/packing while some customers can be seen being given the cold shoulder by some rather nasty shop owners who do not seem to know the polite way to refuse a customers bargain. We experience that a bit as well. Pre-warned is forearmed they say.
We spent the late afternoon and evening there buying souvenirs, t-shits, sandals and reached the top level of the mall to the food court. Sumptuous thai food awaited us. One half of the food court had small stalls with knick knacks, garments and souvenirs. So, we shopped after eating and until the security started closing down sections for the day.
We took a cab ride amidst a steady humid drizzle back to the apartment and turned in to recharge ourselves for the next day's shop out.
