Today, I left Wellington.  Met some great people on the shuttle on the way to the ferry, and continued on.  Lyttle-- you'll be happy to know, I got coffee and cookies bought for me on the train.  (And a couple of guys from Israel who asked to have a picture with me.)
Yesterday, I took the cable car up the steep hill, and walked forever.  Went through a botanical garden and then a bird sanctuary of all places.  I had no idea what each bird was, and some people pointed out that I could find a 'tuatara' hiding in a little hole.  So, I waited.  Kept looking for a beak to pop out of the hole.  Eventually, I saw it, and that's when I learned that it is like a very large lizard (which it isn't technically, but anyhow!)...  Check it out ... Anyhow, I got some great shots, and then pointed it out to other tourists, as though I knew exactly what I was talking about :) (tee, hee!)  Despite my ignorance, I really enjoyed that stop.  Exhausted, I took the bus back and stopped at Te Papa briefly, and then closed my eyes.  Finally, I had some dinner nearby.  Lots of restaurants in Wellington.
The ferry ride was fantastic, and the weather was great for the last two days making the views even better.

Male tuatara  The beautiful tuatara.
