Woke up to a dull, drizzling day, maximum temp about 9 degrees. We had a guide today (Jane and our driver, Sergei - yep, thats his real name) and visited some of the most beautiful landmarks of Russia, the highlight being the Church of the Spilled Blood - the epitome of Russian architecture and one of the most photographed churches in the world.  For dumb arse Digby this was the 4th time he has seen this church today. Old knucklehead went for an early morning run, got very lost and the only landmark he recognised was this church and had to go back there a couple of times to get his bearings. God love him!

We also visited St Nicholas' and the famous St Isaac's Cathedral, the fourth biggest cathedral in the world  behind St Peter's in Vatican City, St Paul's in London and St Bruce's in Florence (not really Bruce - not sure of the name).

We wandered around the streets and parks, the leaves are falling and it is truly beautiful. Our command of the Russian language has extended to 4 words - yes, no, thank you and goulash. Have a guess what we had for dinner tonight ?? Also discovered that in Russia Chardy is not popular so I had to drink............. wait for it.........sauv blanc.  I know, embarrassing but hey when in Rome.....
