Knotts Berry Farm wasn't part of our planned itinerary, but as we had a spare day, we thought since we'd heard about it as kids, we should go. Kate has turned into a real adrenalin junkie like her dad, and any ride she was tall enough to go on, she went on - and most of them I was too chicken ride! Josh wouldn't go on most of the scary rides - I went on one scary one (after Fred & Kate had already been on twice!) called 'Montazoma's Revenge' - basically it shoots you over a loop the loop and up, up, up a vertical run and then it drops you backwards so you do the loop in reverse, and then up, up, up another vertical run behind you - terrifying! Fred asked me why I didn't scream (I usually deafen myself) but I was so scared I couldn't get a scream out! We saw a wild west show, which was cheesy, but the kids enjoyed the fake gun fights and slapstick fights. We also saw a 'Peanuts' pirate show, with Charlie Brown & Lucy, and had our photos taken with Snoopy. Josh finally found a slightly scary rollercoaster that he liked called 'Sierra Sidewinder' which was a twisting rollercoaster with a new idea - the cars that you sat in spun around as you were swerving around the track! By the time we had done the ride 5 times, the girls who worked the ride all knew us by first name - "Hi Josh, Kate & Mom from New Zealand, are you back again?!" We were at the park until it closed at 6pm, and we were lucky that the lines were pretty much non-existant - by 5pm most rides were deserted and only had 2-3 people going on each one. Great theme-park, a definite if you're ever in Southern California.
