The Alvrez's and the Chocolate Factory

We actually managed to get away before our intended time today, but our head start didn't last, not too worry. We stopped for lunch at the 'Cracker Barrel' restaurant in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, which was really delicious. Told the kids we were going to the Hershey chocolate factory www.hersheys.com/chocolateworld/ today, which has helped them stay motivated in the car. Kate asked us if we had to have a 'golden ticket' to get into the factory (like in Charlie & the Chocolate factory) and is very concerned that we won't be able to take photos. When we got to the Chocolate World parking lot it was PACKED! People everywhere & very touristy looking. We went on the free chocolate factory tour first. Basically you jump into these cars on conveyor belts and go past a cheesy, but fun factory tour (not a real factory, just a mock up - I mean what kind of factory has singing cows...?!) in which you see the chocolate making process. At the end you smile for the camera toting animatronic cow and get your photo taken - then you are fleeced like a sheep if you want to buy a copy of that photo! Once off the ride you are handed a small packet of Hershey 'Kissables' - which Josh & Kate very enthusiastically gobbled. After the tour we went and saw a 3D movie with dancing chocolate bars and special effects like rain, smoke & the grand finale of streamers dropping out of nowhere - Kate said it was 'Awesome' and both of them seemed to enjoy it. We had to do the tourist thing and get our family photo put on to the wrapper of a bar of chocolate too. We stayed the night in Kinzers, Pennsylvania www.roamerscampground.com another Amish town. Not long after we arrived, an Amish woman & her two children arrived with their horse & cart selling produce, so we bought a HUGE watermelon for $4.
