So, we cant express enough distaste for this aweful city. I know, sharsh words, but this town seriously is lacking everything!!!!
Vientiane is the capital city of Laos and is quite boring to say the very least. Its hot and expensive. The mighty Mekong that seperates it from Thailand is now almost all dried up and you can practically walk across the border! The deminishing river also makes the heat that much umbearable.
The town is WAY overpriced and has NOTHING TO DO IN IT WHATSOEVER. What do people do around here? God, help us!
So, unfortunatly, we didnt plan it right and arrived here late on a Friday night. We needed to stay in this town (so we though) to arrange our Indian visa. Well, the Indian embassy isnt open on the weekends, so we had to wait till monday. Of course, we tried to make the best of it and we ran into Yolanda again for one evening.... But man, is this town void of anything worth enjoying!
Monday FINALLY arrives and the embassy is closed due to "International Woman's Day". CRAP!!!!
SO, tuesday FINALLY arrives, and we get to the embassy only to find out that it will take another 5 business days for it to process! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! We couldnt do it. We couldnt imagine waisting one more breath in that city. We grabed back our applications, and booked a bus ticket to Pakse for that same night.
Enough said, dont you think?
how they build things around here...
the dried up Mekong
