So, we decide to hit up Haad Rin, on the opposite side of the island.
Haad Rin is where the Full Moon Party is held. The Full Moon Party is an internationally known party, held every full moon, that has hosted up to 20,000 people/party. It entails lots of fire games, fire dancing and heavy beats on the beach....But the full moon party isn't till the 22nd!
Unfortunately though, the king's sister died in December and the country isn't allowed to throw a party/celebrate for 50 days: all parties were either canceled or postponed till the 20th. Well, of all months for us to be in Ko Phangan! We are gonna miss all the parties...
The bright side of this, was that instead of say 20,000 people being here, there was like, 200. That made the beach WONDERFUL!!!! I have to say, this beach is amazingly beautiful with clear waters and really soft sand! You can walk quite a ways, and still be only waist deep! The beach itself was really cool. Also, everything was a LOT cheaper, because it wasnt "peak season". In this area, peak and low season differ with the phase of the moon, and room rates quadruple when its full moon.
Anyeways, in Haad Rin, there are 2 sides to stay on: Sunrise beach (the busy side where the party is held), and Sunset Beach (the slower and quiet side, just 12 minutes walk away).
We got a steal of a price for our nice accommodations, which was next to a really small lake (I would call it a POND) in between Sunrise and Sunset beach.

There is also the "Half Moon Party" and the "Black Moon Culture" that go on in the area (so this pretty much insures that there is a party in the area almost every week).

It was called, The Lakehouse and they taught massage (of which we indulged in) and cooking classes.
