So, we got onto a long tail boat and joined about 10 other people for a full day trip. We first started off the coast of Ko Phi Phi Don, at Sharks Cove.
This place was beautiful! The coral was all alive and the colors were brilliant! The fish were different from what we have seen previously, as well.
At one point, Mathew and I were swimming next to a giant jelly fish! IT was beautiful - big and far with short tendrills and a "cauliflower" looking bottom. YOu could even see small fish swimming inside of it!
Then we got onto the boat and went pretty far off - about a 45 minute boat ride to an island called Mosquito Island.
This was a beautiful, small island that was protected park. We had a simple lunch here and then we moved onto Monkey beach.
Monkey beach was good for people that never seen a monkey, I guess. But the beach wasnt very nice, because there were just a bunch of speed boats parked in the way.
The monkeys were BLOATED - eatinf way to much! oh well... :D
The next stop was Ko Phi Phi Ley.
We were able to snorkel out in its bay, and then we were taken ashore to go exploring and enjoy the beach.
It was nearring sunset, so there was some shadow created by the high walls of Ko Phi Phi Ley. Ko Phi Phi Ley is beautiful but not exatly like the movie, "The beach"! THere is some MAJOR editing going on with that movie!!
In the movie, you see this beach, but with a "mushroom" island in the middle: so we went searching for that "mushroom" and found it on the other side of the island.
POOP! its cool, but there wasnt a beach on that side! on top of that, there was a big, noisy PUMP sucking out the water from that side of the bay! what for?!!?!
MAJOR MOVIE MAGIC... but its still beautiful. Take a look at the pics!
When we got back, Mathew did something that he has wanted to do, since I could remember: We went to the Sunflower bar and he got a traditional bamboo tatoo of the Eye of Ra.
It was amazing watching it get done. I believe its his favorite tatoo. :D
