HAPPY NEW YEARS !!!!!
During the day, we needed some more activity and decided to hike over the rocky barrier between Tonsai and East Ralei, just to do it and have fun. There is a bit of climbing involved, and that is why people usually opt to either kayak or take a boat taxi to East Ralei.
What was very interesting that even on the very top of this hill, we found many seashells embedded in the dirt. Phenominal proof of the height and power of the 2004 Tsunami....
We had a long and crazy night ahead of us! The owner of the Viking Bar requested that I perform with him (he dances stick) for the New Years Eve fire show.
In return, Mathew and I would get a deep discounts on our beverages all night long. Sounded good enough to me, since I was planning on doing it anyways!
But it was really special of him to formally request that I be "part of his act". And to dance side by side him, is a real treat too!
SO, this night was so much fun! Not only were there so many fire dancers all along the beach, there were HUNDREDS of lanterns lit up and floating in the sky from. You can see them floating from every beach around.
ALong with the fire dancing and lanterns, huge fireworks were going off every 15 minutes. (I wish I got a pic of Mathew dancing with fire while a huge firework went off over his head).
It was a good site. :D
Our place was the place to be! Viking bar not only had a fire show (moi),
but there was also a traditional thai boxing show (which ended in a knockout!) and a king Cobra show.
The snake show consisted of these crazy snake charmers dancing and taunting 2 vipors, a 10 foot long python and a 14 foot cobra!! my goodness. ..
Ok, so because I was part of the big "performance" that night, they insisted that I hold the python and the cobra. They insisted this on Mathew as well.
Well, thanks to all the discounted drinks we cosumed that evening, we happily obliged and took pictures with these huge snakes! jeeeesuz.
After the fantastic show, we wandered the rest of the beach and enjoyed some good DJ's from Bangkok.... REALLY FUN NIGHT!!!!
