Andaman Sea

Today, we went on a tour to 3 different islands; and getting there by longtail boat, we were able to see many other islands along the way. IT was a very beautiful site: limestone rocks towering about the sea....

1) The first island we went to had a huge fresh water lake just 50 meters from the shore. The lake is called Tasik Dayang Bunting, "enchanted lake of the pregnant maiden", and is the largest lake in Langkawi.

The outline of hill and rocky cliffs on one side of the lake resembles the shape of a pregnant maiden lying on her back. The legend goes like this:
"The favourite bathing pool of a celestial princess named Mambang Sari was said to be Tasik Dayang Bunting (lake of the pregnant maiden). A prince, Mat Teja, fell madly in love with her and tricked her into marrying him. It did not take her long to reciprocate his love and so could not bear to return to her celestial home. Sadly, their child died from a mysterious illness at the age of seven days.

Distraught, the princess cried and created this very lake with her tears. Grieving, she left the child's body in the lake and returned to her heavenly abode.

Today, many believe barren women who bathe amd drink in this lake will be endowed with a child; and many have claimed to be successful."

So, we got to the lake and those darn monkeys were guarding the path and a few were puking on the trail! - DISGUSTING!

The lake itself was nice, but I really prefer the ocean to lakes, as lakes smell funny to me and are dark and kind of creepy! But we both swam in it anyways, making sure not to drink any of the water, of course!

You can rent solar powered paddle boats here: We didnt get it - solar powered, yet you had to manually paddle them as well? ok.....sounded like man power to us!

2) So the second island was pretty cool - this was wear we got to throw raw chicken meat into the ocean and watch all the eagles come in and dive for them! sweeeet.

The eagles were beautiful: black eagles and red eagles. I tried to take some good pics, but either someones head was in the way or I was too slow!

3) The last island we went to was just for lounging around. Beautiful place, soft sand clear waters.

They were selling beer on the beach and it was a good time.

That was that! Just an all-round good time!
