After spending 3 nights with David and Lisa and feeling that we saw most of the "city" of Sydney, we decided to book ourselves into a hostel in Manly Beach : north of the city. Manly is a surfer town! Woohoo - just our style. Also, CouchSurfing is throwing a huge BBQ at Shelly's Beach which is the local beach just down the road. David and Lisa drove us down to the hostel to check in before the BBQ started. WOW! The hostel is so cute, its a cottage! Very nice.
The BBQ was loads of fun with about 30 CSers joining and having fun. Shelly beach is so beautiful (kind of like a private cove). Water is prestine but too cold to go into. We had loads of fun and i took out the glow poi at night and some of us were playing with it. Ate a kangaroo hot dog!
After the BBQ, we were all invited to a house party for a birthday celebration: which was only 1 block from our hostel! So, we all went and partied some more - even got invited to some aboriginal party 1 hour away...was concidering it, until we realized it was a one-way trip! We came back late at night to the hostel to find more backpackers partying it up in the front area: a big cooler "eskie" of sangria and Chile'ans dancing on the benches to Shakira. What a fun group! I was even able to show off our Ipod collection to a NZ DJ and he was very impressed :) :). We passed out.
The next day our room woke up to Mathew falling out of his bunk - the TOP bunk! We roamed around town. Unfortunatly, we had a rough day. Apperently, someone broke into Matthews bag at the CS BBQ and stole his Helio phone and our camera. THat is why we couldnt post any pictures we took! The camera is gone :(.No phones either. So now, we try to get mom to send us a camera. We stayed the evening in at the hostel and watched The Lords OF the Rings trilogy with other backpackers. POop is how we feel. Ugh.
Tomorrow we leave the city for the Blue Mountains. Better things are ahead of us. We decide to NOT buy a RTW ticket.
