PMS to Pucon

It was a tough day. PMS had set in and I was not in a good mood. Reluctant on my part, we headed up to Valdivia. We drove up a 50 km gravel road alongside a gorgeous river. The area was a mirror image of the logging country in Oregon. Clear cutting gave way to large forested rows of evergreens waiting for their turn to be cut down. Valdivia was not impressive. The Lonely Planet guide said it was the prettiest town in this part of Chile, which didn't say much as most of the towns here are run down. We got lost and found again and discovered the hotel that the couple in Buzios, Brazil stayed at. It was a welcome relief to a frustrating day.
