We were going to go kayak today but spontaneously changed our minds and decided to take the quick ferry over to Russel. Russel is a cute little town on the other side of the bay from Paihia filled with old historic homes from the 19th century. We went for a short beach and bush walk and then walked through town and plopped ourselves down on the grass at the beach to sunbathe. It was another relaxing day I the Bay of Isalands. After an unsuccessful search for a free camping spot I recommended we drive to Kerikeri that was a little further north but still on the Bay of Islands. We checked into a really nice Top 10 Holiday Park. They were having the weekly Friday BBQ where the owners supplied salad and each of the guests would bring their own food to BBQ. It was a social affair and a nice way to end the evening.
