Typically we don't pay too much attention to the time stamp for these entries (particularly since the default is EDT) but this entry is correct -- arrived in Provo at 11pm. Accordingly, we'll just call this the groggy bloggy entry.

Stats for Day 6:
Started at 10am from Avon, CO and ended at Provo, Utah.
states: CO and UT
covered approx 490 miles
weather: depends on the hour. Morning in the mountains was cool with light rain. You'll see the pics from Colorado NM and Arches NP are quite nice. In between, occasional thunderstorms. And for the final leg just south of Price, UT one heck of a soaking. Thunder, lightening, near flash floods. Thus the late arrival.
Abby meltdowns: 1. Just in time for the severe thunderstorm. Fun.
Highlights: Colorado Nat'l Monument (canyons, cliffs) and Arches Nat'l Park -- spectacular. Abby saw her first cactus.
Nat'l Park Stamps: see above. Plus one for the Old Spanish Nat'l Historic Trail.
Paul's Special Update -- Great American Rivers Seen so far: Potomac, Ohio, Mississippi, Missouri, Colorado
Phrase of the Day: "You are about to drive on a 23 mile road that is narrow, windy, dangerous and has extreme drop-offs" On National Parks pamphlet given to us as we entered CO National Monument

Answer to yesterday's trivia question: Site of World's First Rodeo = Deer Trail, CO (according to sign we saw on side of highway)
Bonus Trivia Answer: ALL of the above (according to a placard at the CO State Capitol Bldg.)

Attempted Answers to KHart's questions: 1) unsure, but believe that Colorado means "red" something? 2) Pike's Peak, but our itinerary didn't take us there -- since flash floods in the area.

Today's "trivia" - Taking a more practical tact today can anyone please tell us why: 1) Almost every hotel in Provo, Utah is full tonight? (Our no reservations approach almost backfired on us finally) Note: It is not a convention, b/c the one room we were able to get is at the Provo conference center.; 2) Why an otherwise nice room at the Provo Marriott would have curtains that do not close all the way?

We had a nice day at both Parks -- the scenery was gorgeous -- I will let the pictures do the talking. Did a lot of driving -- following the Colorado River most of the day. Drove through a terrible thunder storm before Price, UT and both Abby and mom at the wheel had a bit of a melt down. Now, have to get to bed before the sun shines through the curtainless window.
