The huge thunderstown Thursday morning threw out our power for two days threatening to delay the beginning of our journey. But power was finally restored Friday night and we kicked it into high gear Saturday morning and left just after our self-imposed noon departure deadline
The first leg of our trip is to Buffalo to visit Ann's side of the family there. Ann's brother Andy and his family and Grandpa Jerry also made the trip up from Maryland to Buffalo for a visit. Our first day one the road will likely be one of our longest days in the car and we were a little afraid we might turn back before Buffalo. Even with our late start, it really wasn't too bad. We wired Abby up with her first DVD player and she really got into it and was a real trooper on the long drive. Owen hasn't gotten his travel groove yet and had a couple crying fits precipitating an unplanned stop at the site of the Litte League World Series in Williamsport and and early dinner at McDonald's. This dinner stop was a little disappointing since on our last trip we went cross country without stopping at one and Ann vowed to limit McDonald's stops on this trip, but we are convinced Abby worked on Owen to cry so she could score some McD's...oh well.
We rolled in to the luxuriously remodeled home of our cousins Jodie and Dave at 9:15pm with kids asleep in PJ's. After a spirited game of bubble hockey (Jodie and Dave won in OT) we crashed.
Sorry to the blog faithful from last time (you know who you are) that we didn't get this up and running sooner this time, but the level of difficulty and exhaustion with 2 kids took its toll on the blog, but we will Rally.
