Got up as it was WHITEWATER RAFTING DAY!!!! We went with Foaming Fury and they picked us up from our hostel at 8.45am. We learnt that there hadn't been any rafting for the past 3 weeks due to all the rain and the river levels being too high, and they'd only opened the river up yesterday so we were really lucky.
There were 23 of us rafting, but the groups in the raft worked out quite small, there were 6 in ours as well as our guide Luke. It was fantastic fun!! We didn't get flipped over but we certainly got wet. Me and Neil were at the front of the raft (thankfully we weren't responsible for the direction of the raft, that was down to Luke!) so did get pretty wet compared to the others.
It was a good 2hrs of rafting and the scenery was also amazing (when you got the chance to take it all in!). I'd recommend Foaming Fury to anyone that wants grade 3-4 rapids and to go with a good bunch of people. They had a photographer take pics of us whilst we were going down the rapids (Soco, you should come to Oz and do that job!!) so we have bought the CD of all the photos and will put some on the blog when we get them. We're quite intrigued about them ourselves! Going out in Cairns tonight for a bit of a drink up with Jo and Hannah as tomorrow night is their last night in Oz. It'll be really sad to say goodbye to them again, especially as we don't know when we'll see them again, but we pick up the campervan on Tuesday so that is something to look forward to.
Had a great night out with Jo and Hannah. Went to the Crown and had a lovely (relatively cheap) meal there along with a bottle of wine each, then we went to Shenanigans for a bit of a boogie. There was a really good band playing, and Neil went mad when they started playing Reef "Put Your Hands Up". We all got pretty merry and many funny photos were taken. More thumbnails ...
