After we got back from the sailing we showered and then killed some time until our Greyhound bus came to pick us up at 8.05pm. We knew that it was going to be a 11hr drive to Cairns, so we had tried to prepare ourselves for a long night.
They put a film on straight away called "Benchwarmers" which at the start looked liked it was going to be really stupid but ended up being a really funny film. I think I was laughing a bit too loudly though, and cried more than once!! Didn't really manage to sleep that well, and got to Cairns at 6am. Got to Gilligans Hostel and Resort where they told us that check-in wasn't until 2pm, but we were free to put our luggage into their storage and lounge in their TV's rooms. It was a bit of a shock as you could check in to Magnums anytime after 6am. Went on the internet and managed to chat via webcam to my parents which was great fun (thanks for getting a webcam Mum and Dad!!) Went to the bar area, but boy did time go slow. We did find a nice place to have breakfast, and we also treated ourselves to some hot cross buns. Checked into our dorm and then tried to snooze. Went for dinner at PJ O'Briens, mainly because they said if you bought a pint of beer, you could get dinner for $5. We all ordered the steak and chips, but the food wasn't very nice. The chips were luke warm, the steak was chewy and fatty and Jo had asked for her steak well done but it was really pink inside. I know you may say "what do you expect for $5", but I would at least like my food warm. Had some drinks in the bar at Gilligans and then went to bed.
