I was always told that you never really can know your way around a place until you get lost, and it's good to lose your way.  I'm sure that's true, but it doesn't make getting lost any easier!  After class today (during which I had my first Danish lesson-Jeg hedder Allison), my new friend Meghan and I decided to go to the grocery store (I had to buy towels because apparently I thought I could just air-dry here) and then she would come look at my apartment and go to the phone store from there because I live near the city center.  Getting to the store was fine.  Afterwards though, we went in THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.  Once, during freshman year, my friend Dillon and I walked all over Boulder because I thought the two stores we visited were next to each other-they were actually on different sides of town.  That was nothing compared to this.  I was carrying an extremely heavy load, one in my arms and one on my back, and it was about 1000 degrees outside (Celsius, not Farenheit) and I had on shoes that decided to give me blisters after about the first mile.  We finally found our way, and for how lost we were, I actually thought it was really funny.  It just makes for a good story, right?  No use getting mad about it. 

I love waking up in Italy.  The birds are chirping, the sun filters through my beautiful lace curtains, and my lumpy bed has formed a cocoon around me during the night.  It's great.  My turn to cook involved asking, in understandable Italian I might add, where non-sweet white wine was (Dove e il vino bianco non dolce?) and having an irritated cashier have the woman behind me run back to the vegetable aisle because I didn't realize I was supposed to weigh the onion myself.  I know she was talking about me-I caught "americano" in her stream of Italian complaints.  I can't wait to learn the language.  Class had a demo lesson where we all sat in on our teacher doing a lesson for elementary students.  The order of language classes are beginner (little to no knowledge), elementary (some knowledge) and intermediate/advanced.  The students were all in their 30s or older, and one man, Luciano, was so funny and outgoing I decided I wanted to be his friend.  One of our assignments is to interview a non-English speaker, so I thought he would be the perfect candidate.  I chased him down after class and asked if I could use him for my project.  He said yes.  Thursday is my first teaching lesson!  I'm teaching vocabulary to intermediate.  My lesson plan is to teach them vocab words about diseases/illnesses and symptoms and then for the last activity, have them come up with a new disease.  The idea came from the episode of the office where Dwight is in charge of picking a new health plan and Pam and Jim make up new diseases (such as spontaneous dental hydroplosion)(Ok I know I'm obsessed with that show, but not obsessed enough to remember the exact name of the disease-I had to look that one up).  It should be fun, and hopefully they learn a lot!
