Up at the ridiculous hour of 5 am to beat the hoards of elderly Americans destined for Machu Picchu. Spent a few hours poking around the ruins and climbing lots of steps and left just as the crowds were gathering. Have to say that we were both underwhelmed by the whole thing although you gotta admit the Incas did like a scenic location!

Went to the interesting museum at the base of the mountain which had artifacts and explained the methods used to build the citadel, you would get a better appreciation of the site if you visited the museum first.

  Relaxed our weary legs in the thermal baths and wondered if the biting flies enjoyed the dressing provided by Brenda´s "insect repellent" - leg bite count 109!
