Went out for dinner in Huanchaco last night in a poky but atmospheric little restaurant, Los Vuelos, (recommended by the Lonely Planet) where they gave us drinks, fired up the grill and then completely ignored us for about an hour while we sat there starving, probably would have been understandable but we we were their only customers! Our waitress sat next to us doing a word puzzle while the manager grooved to Barry White and told us how much he loves one of the other staff, like his little sister.
Hunger finally got the better of us and we paid for our drinks leaving a small tip of about 10cents and the waitress looked so happy I thought she was going to kiss us - probably the strangest not dining experience of our lives!
P.S. in case your wondering about the subject line this was our hostel's interpretation of Niall Dunne, written up on their big white board at reception.
