Immigration would not process us until this morning so last night was spent on the boat. We were all so tired that everyone went to bed early and this morning we were up to wait on immigration who were two hours late! Cartagena from the sea is lined with modern skyscrapers - it reminded us a little of Hong Kong which was a suprise! The whole skyline as we approached the marina was lit up with so many lights and colours, the warmer breeze was felt straight away the closer we came to the land.
So, for all of you travellers who are thinking about taking a sailboat to or from Panama/Colombia we say go for it, but be prepared to take the rough with the smooth, no comforts and no privacy....the islands were worth all the discomforts.
Soon enough we made our way into the old town. We found a cheap and clean little hotel and chilled out for the day. Of course first things first - a shower - running fresh cold water, you have no idea how absolutley amazing that feeling is when you have not washed for what 5 / 6 days! And to pee on a toilet was a pleasure, next up was a cold coke - divine !! We are staying here in Cartagena for a few days checking out the Old Town and maybe visiting a mud volcano which is nearby - we shall write again when we have some news, we need to replan our itinerary as Colombia was not in it until we were in Panama and we have less than 7 weeks to get to Brazil now !!
