Thoughts on life in NZ -
Well it's been 22 days since we last wrote! To be honest we haven't really anything to tell which is why we have not written and bored you all to tears with our work stories!
But this past couple of weeks we have been busy making decisions about our trip and our future. We have been working really hard, trying to save every dollar we earn and make plans for 2007, we have decided and confirmed a plan which all going well moneywise will happen!
Work is going pretty well, we seem to have got into the swing of things and are both enjoying it now. Our shared house is cosy and fun, and as we are saving hard we spend a lot of time here! It's summer down here at the moment. This past week the weather has been super, 30+ days - so very hot and sunny
Thoughts on the benefits of travel -
Travelling has truly taught us both so much about life, about ourselves and about other people. Having travelled a fair bit now and seeing so many different ways of living, we like to think that when we come home you will all notice a difference in us.
The major thing we have learnt is that money really isnt everything - of course it helps and without it we wouldn't be where we are today, but it's not a neccesity, you don't need it to be happy - little kids in Africa were happy living in a mudhut with no water or power and very little food, adults were happy all over Cambodia despite the horrific past that they have endured through the khymer rouge regime.
You never really know what is out there until you look, and we are so glad we started looking, despite all the amazing places we have been on this trip so far we realise that there are so many other things that we want to achieve as well, and travelling has helped us both make decisions, helped us realise who we are and what we want, instead of national service and war lets make travelling in your twenties compulsory, people in the world would give and appreciate so much more.
2007 Plans -
So, lets roll out AlinMatts plan for 2007:
We are leaving New Zealand mid May, we managed to bag super cheap return flights to Fiji - a dream destination that we certainly never expected to be able afford, but Air New Zealand had a bargain offer online yesterday that we just couldn't miss
So, Fiji for a week and then we fly back to NZ, 2 nights in Christchurch and then we fly up to Auckland. Unfortunatley we cant afford to spend time in the North Island, but we are both satisfied that we have seen more of NZ than most people and that we need somewhere to keep on our list for future travels! So we fly out of Auckland two hours after we arrive and fly to San Francisco.
We shall have just 2 nights in San Fran - lack of funds and time means that it has to be kept short and sweet - another place to return to I guess!
After 2 nights in San Fran we fly down to Mexico City where we shall start our travels in central America. The itinerary from here on is very flexible, but we plan on seeing some of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua - maybe Belize too!
After about 5 weeks in Central America we will fly to South America, more than likely Lima in Peru, from where we shall travel through Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and up to Brazil for a flight back to London via Germany at the start of September. We would love to explore the Patagonia region, but it will be winter, which makes travel in this area more both more expensive and time consuming, so we may give it a miss.
We will arrive home, refreshed, excited and ready to chase some more dreams, satisfied that we know we can do anything if we put our heart and soul into it..........
Hugs........

Ali gets a haircut in the garage!
. I had our flatmate Robyn cut my hair, she is a hairdresser and cut my hair amazingly up in the garage last week! Matt finally got up and saw a sunrise! Which as you can see from the photos was out of this world.Thoughts on the benefits of travel -
