So Happy New Year everyone!
Cant believe that this is the first blog of the year! 2007 already and as always I keep dating everything 2006! We had a blast working at the cricket on NYE, we served hot dogs and fries until they were coming out of our ears! And we smelt so bad of chipfat when we got back to the hostel we had to shower and hold off drinking time for a bit!
NYE was great fun, we went to a busy bar in town and drank beer, bacardi and slippery nipple cocktails all night and into the new year! We were joined by Jem who is English and was staying in our Dorm and Michael who was German and staying in our hostel. We all had a good time and a good laugh - Matts scoffed a kebab at about 2am in the foodcentre and like oldies we went home early at 2.30am.
What a Week this one has been!
We also moved into our new home! It was great to get out of dorms in the hostel even though it was a nice hostel! Finally we have comfort and some space. The house we are sharing is set high up over Queenstown and as you can see from the photos the views from the outside deck and the huge windows in the house are nothing short of spectacular. We overlook the Remarkables Mountain Range and Lake Wakatipu which are just stunning and change throughout the day, every morning we wake up look out of the window and smile. Sometimes if its been chilly in town, you can ususally guarantee that its been freezing at the top of the mountains and there will be a few snow caps about!
At night the stars here are so bright, if we turn slightly right in bed and look up we can gaze at the southern night sky, its so beautiful, the stars are different from home, here you can usually see the southern cross and the saucepan, the milky way is usually very visible, and we can make out some planets too most nights - venus and mars.
The houses here are huge and open plan with lots of windows, its very different!
So, this week - well we will be working and Matts taking me out to a nice restaurant in Queenstown for my birthday (one good thing about living in a touristy town!)
Thats all for now...
Hugs

Ali and Jem on New Years Eve!
This week we started our new jobs here in Queenstown which has been interesting and challenging, we both seem to be doing fine, but as we are new and things here are done differently there is so much to learn! We also moved into our new home! Fernhill - The Area of Queenstown we live
This week I drove out to Arrowtown which is about 20kms from Queenstown, the drive was just so beautiful, mountains either side of me, on the way back I drove a different route and passed the scenic Lake Hayes....this whole area is like a picture book, thats why I guess its been used as location for one of the worlds biggest films - The Lord of the Rings. So, this week - well we will be working and Matts taking me out to a nice restaurant in Queenstown for my birthday (one good thing about living in a touristy town!)
Thats all for now...
