We made the mistake in Ko Tao of going to the busiest beach! We thought that as it is dubbed a quiet island that we would be better off in the busiest resort - that, we think was our mistake! The beach at Sairee was quite filthy and it was a very busy place, twinned with the fact that all the decent accommodation is reserved for divers it wasnt ideal, and so we stayed three nights and then moved on.

We are currently on the secluded northern beach called Hat Khuat - in English its Bottle Beach, we left Ko Tao on the high speed catamaran and arrived on the island of Ko Pha Ngan (pronounced in English Co Pan Nang!), upon arrival at the port we took a sawngthaew (basically a pick up where they cram as many people in the back as poss!) and headed across the island, we arrived in a small town in the north and waded out through the clear waters to a wooden longtail boat, which took us and other backpackers around the headland to Bottle Beach.

This is our third night here, its absolutly beautiful, exceptionally quiet, a white sandy bay backed by jungle, its so secluded that you cant get here by road only boat, internet costs for half an hour what it cost for four hours in Bangkok! We have a spacious wooden hut set back from the beach, but you can still see the sea in all its glory. We have spent the days chilling or boiling as the case may be on the stunning beach, snorkelling and spotting leopard pattern fish amongst many others, and swimming in the shallow calm waters...seafood pizza and salads, followed by coconut shakes are the usual order of the day!

Tommorow we are heading to Hat Rin, the main resort on the island, where the full moon party is held, after that we shall head the short distance across the waters to Ko Samui.

Piccies will go on when we find decent priced internet!

Hugs

Ali n Matt
