Bangkok is a huge city, its so diverse and so spread out. Its really modern and everything that the western traveller could ever need is here, we love it so much this is our 7th night! We were going to leave today and head to an island near the Cambodian border called Ko Chang, but last night we decided that we would stay another night and head to the coast tommorow morning. Cant be too long though as we really must start heading north in the next 10 days or so!!

As I said, we have been here a week already, and we havent even explored a big area of the city its that huge. We are staying in Banglamphu, which is a backpacker area, and the mad crazy Khao San Road is nearby, but we are stying near the river on small cobbled streets. Theres loads of cafe culture here, and we have been chilling out in the cafes and eating some fab food...fresh fruit shakes from the street stalls and all that kind of stuff. Shopping here is outstanding, and we have been splashing the cash a little! Okay, a little too much....we sent 12kgs home!

We used the boat service and travelled on the Chayo Prahya River a few times, it as brown as you imagine a river to be in a major city, buts its really relaxing. We visited the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew - which was absolutley amazing, the buildings were just out of this world...we were most impressed! Also went across the river and saw Wat Arun which is a Buddhist Temple that was very much in use that day, it was the Buddha's birthday, so a big religious holiday here, and there were lots of monks, music and incense.

The Reclining Buddha is housed in Wat Pho - we knew that it would be huge, but seeing it for real was amazing - its magnificent, so big...really impressive!

Thats all for now, just wanted to let everyone know that we are ok and having an amazing time in Bangkok!

For all of those who want to know....Yes we have seen LadyBoys! And no, we havent had any massage!

Hehehehe!

Hugs

Ali and Matt
