The drive here was just beautiful, we drove through the gorgeous states of Vermont and New Hampshire, where there was snow on the montains and huge areas of iced over lakes and rivers, fir trees and typical movie like houses made with wooden slatting.
We arrived into Boston late afternoon and from the bus station took the mbta, which is Bostons subway/metro/tube a couple of stops, changed and went a couple more stops until we arrived in the Back Bay area, just across the river from Cambridge...we are staying in a huge long leafy Victorian street, full of high terraced victorian properties, we are staying on the 4th floor in a beautiful house with huge winding staircases and loads of character
So. we shall be out exploring the city over the next few days, we plan to stay here until at least wednesday before moving on.
Montreal where we just left was a really charming city, very different from busy cosmopolitan Toronto, the French influence was very evident, and they are very patriotic...flying the Canadian flag alongside the Quebec Province flag!
We stayed in Vieux Montreal, which basically means the old town, it was beautiful, loads of snow and very cold.
We explored the modern downtown area, as well as visiting the very old buildings...we went inside the Hotel De Ville (Town Hall) and the Cathedrale De Notre Dame - which had stunning architecture and stained glass. We walked along the huge Saint Lawrence River which was frozen in many places around the Old Port areas...people were ice skating on the lakes...the whole of Montreal was full of snow and the surrounding areas which we visited on the way in and out of the city...however all the locals said that its not a "real" winter as its much colder.
Thats all for now....cant upload any piccies yet! Will as soon as I can....
