Botswana was fantastic. There isnt a huge amount to see in this beautiful country, hence the reason why we diddnt spend long there, but what we did see were the 2 main sites and they were both well worth seeing.
The drive from Vic Falls across the border to Kasane was short and painless, upon arrival at our camp we took a morning game drive in the magnificent Chobe National Park, Chobe is famous for such huge amounts of herds of elephants and we were not dissapointed, they were everywhere, bathing in the waters, drinking from the waters, crossing the roads, roaming in the bush, they were great. We also saw baby baboons being carried on their mothers back! That same evening we went on a river cruise on the Chobe River, this was just brilliant, we saw tons of Hippos....Elephants... and for the first time on this trip a HUGE crocodile! The sunset along the river as we sailed back to the dock was great.
From Kasane we drove south to Maun, Maun is a small town and is basically there as the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Matt decided to treat us and instead of camping in the grounds of the hotel we upgraded and stayed in a beautiful hotel, complete with its own bathroom, satellite tv (yes..footie was on for most of the time we were there!!) tea and coffee facilities in our room and Air con...we were in heaven. We spent 2 days out in the Okavango Delta, it was very pretty, there were lots of dragonflies and waterlillies all over the place, we saw a few zebra and girrafe on the way there too. We travelled the deltas in traditional dugout canoes, known locally as Mekoro's, and we had a poler to do all of the hard work whilst we sat back and chilled.
Last night we crossed the border into Namibia and stayed in a camp on the Caprivi Strip, today we are in Rundu and are heading in about half an hour towards Grootfontein where we shall bushcamp for the night and tommorow visit Etosha National Park for 2 days. Love and Miss you all Ali and Matt xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More thumbnails ...
