Zanzibar was amazing, we ate the most delicious seafood along on the beach, saw a beautiful red and gold starfish just glistening in the clear waters, we swam in the sea and drank cold beer whilst watching the sunset.....Zanzibar was amazing....WE LOVED IT!!!

Upon leaving exotic Zanzibar we took the fast ferry back to Dar Es Salaam, where we stayed for one night, our campsite in Dar was set on the south beach, which was sandy and pretty, at night we would amuse ourselves by sitting on the beach and watching the huge and i mean huge crabs running all over the beach and climbing in and out of their holes in the sand!

We left Dar Es Salaam and made our way to Mikumi National Park, we couldnt beleive our eyes when just a few metres away from the truck we came upon herd of Elephants 6AM Chitimba beach - Lake Malawi

! They were beautiful and one was shaking a tree...they are so powerful..it was fantastic to see these creatures at close range.

We left Mikumi and had a spot of bad luck on the truck, first the gearbox went and then we had a blowout! We all tryed to get into the shade and some of the guys played footy along the road whilst we waited for it to be fixed. By the time we arrived to Iringa it was dark, we set up camp and wrapped up as it was freezing being at a higher altitude, we ate a delicious meal that evening inside an old converted barn style farmhouse building.

Up again early the next day as we headed to the border where we entered Malawi, Malawi is beautiful very mountainous and the people extremley friendly, our first stop in Malawi was Chitimba Beach, on Lake Malawi, the setting was stunning and we were up to see the sunrise as we diddnt realise that the clocks had changed! We just basked ourselves in the sun on the edge of the lake for the majority of the day!

Now we are in Kande Beach, still on the lake but further south near Nkhata Bay, there is so much tide here that its hard to believe that you are on a lake! We decided to upgrade here from the tent, and have for 3 nights a beach chatlet, which is made out of Bamboo...its really cosy and nice Elephant in Mikumi national park Tanzania

.
We may go into the village and see the hospital and school today or we may chill out along the beach and hire a Kayak or something, its too early to decide yet! Tonight we have a fancy dress party, we dont know who has bought our costumes yet, as we all drew secretly out of a hat, we stopped at a market yesterday in a town called Mzuzu, and haggled like crazy for the most hideous outfits we have ever seen in our lifes! It was great fun and tonight we shall all present each other with the outfits before partying in them! Looks like all the lads are gonna be ladies for the evening anyway! Hahhaaha!!!

Love, hugs and kisses....in our 13th week now....bout 10 to go before we land back in the cold UK for a few weeks....

Have fun in Malawi
Hi, just picked up news of your journey in Malawi, via technorati.

I have just got back, yes UK is freezing!

I am working on a blog at the moment, www.go2malawi.com/blog/ and we also produce a weekly Emagazine for Malawi via www.fridayteam.com

Perhaps if you feel to write any reviews on places you have been in Malawi, I can put them on this new blog we are working on?

Anyway, have fun!

Roz
