We arrived in Damascus from Palmyra yesterday midday and we shall leave tommorow, The reason that we have been in Syria for only a week is because we only have fifteen days on our visa, and because we need to be in Cairo for our Uganda flight around the 23rd Sep!

Yesterday morning we were up early and were all set to go and visit what we had come to Palmyra to see - The ancient ruins. Unfortunatly that diddnt go to plan! I slipped on the tiles in the bathroom and couldnt feel anything except pain! I thought that I had broken either my foot or toe! Luckily I hadnt, but even so I diddnt want to walk on it straight away, so Matt went down to the ruins at 7am, before anyone else was around, and got some AMAZING piccies, I only saw the ruins as we drove by, and the view from our room!!
When we arrived in Damascus we were at the Harasta bus station which is located 6kms outside of the city centre, not wanting the same to happen like when we arrived in Aleppo and get lost for hours, we decieded to take a taxi to our chosen hostel.

Damascus is very pretty, even though its a bigger city than Aleppo, its much cleaner and theres more to visit. Yesterday afternoon we went out and got lost in the Souqs, they were amazing, the smells from the sacks of herbs and spices, the amounts of sweet stalls - It was really interesting.
Our hostel is nice, set in an old style townhouse on a sidestreet off of one of the cities main throughfares, last night we were able to sit out on the street and have a drink which was nice, without tons of traffic going by!!
We booked mattresses on the roof last night! Sounded like a really good idea - as it was only 150 Syrian Pounds which equals to about 1.60 Sterling, I tell you....Today I can hardly move my back!!!! It was quite cool and we are glad that we tryed it, but I was eaten alive by mozzies and Matt hardly slept. So, tonight we are staying in a room!!!

In a little while we are off to visit the Main Mosque here in Damascus and maybe the Azem Palace, we shall walk through the Souqs as we did yesterday to get to them.

For some unknown reason we cant upload any piccies here at all??! It just wont allow it on the PC, so when we get to Jordan we are hoping that we will be able to there! Otherwise we are going to fall behind and have tons to upload!!

Love, Hugs and Kisses to you all.......

Ali and Matt
