We've now had a few days of class, and lots of time to get to know the city. We've walked around a lot and stopped many many times for gelato (italian ice cream). It's very good, and they even sell it on waffles with toppings and stuff. There are little shops everywhere. We have yet to find a Walmart or Subway, though. The only American place that we have recognized so far is a Mailboxes etc. and a McDonald's. However, we are a little disappointed in the McDonald's euro menu because you have to actually buy a meal off of the menu before the prices are a euro. Otherwise, you have to pay full price. I've lived on pastries the last few days. So far, the pizza and pasta has been a little disappointing. We've been trying to stay in the apartment to eat for the most part because prices are so expensive over here. Amber B. made some rice and sausage tonight, and it was awesome. I provided the butter bread and the strawberries with sugar for dessert.

We've done so much walking that all of our feet hurt and our backs typical street in Florence

. Our school is about an hour away because of the time that we have to wait for the bus to come, and then ride on a crowded bus with no air conditioning the whole way to school. We've been overheating for the last few days because the rooms in the school are not air conditioned, and the bus rides are horrible. Since we have to dress nice for class, it makes it even more miserable. The temperature was probably in the 90's today. The Amber's and I are looking forward to the Capitals of Europe trip because we get to move around a lot more and see more things (and maybe the climate will be slightly cooler?). We have a big week ahead, but I'm trying not to get too overworked with school and enjoy the experience. It helps that I have two great friends that keep things fun.

hi alina!
I enjoy reading your blog and looking at the photos! Hope classes are going well! Have you had any pizza yet, and if so, is it much different from over here? Sounds like you're having quite the adventure!
