Apparently, the internet at the hotel is 100 euro per month, which is almost $200 in American money. Since us poor law students can't afford that, we haven't had internet for the last few days. I will be able to access at school, so I'll try to keep up as much as possible.
I arrived in Florence on Thursday night. I stayed at a bed and breakfast and had a delicious croissant (filled with chocolate) for breakfast. On Friday, I went to the hotel where the students are staying and checked in. Most of us students stayed in the lobby until the afternoon because our rooms weren't ready. When they finally let us in, we were a little disappointed at the size. Of course, it's europe, so everything is smaller. But, our kitchen can fit into a closet. We have no microwave and no oven. It's kinda sad because the food here is pretty expensive. When Amber Lane arrived on Friday, she didn't have her luggage because it was lost by the airline. So, we spent must of the time on Friday shopping for some essentials to get her through and walking around Florence. The town is really neat. There are so many old buildings, and all the roads stay the same. They are cobblestone roads and sidewalks. All of the homes look similar with the same kind of window treatments. Very neat. My camera isn't working though, so I'm relying on Amber's camera to take lots of pictures for me.
Today, we went on a walking tour, and saw lots of gorgeous buildings, churches, and statues. By this time though, my feet hurt, and I was hungry. We ate at a really nice place for dinner, but the one course was turkey and french fries. We were a little disappointed because we wanted something more Italian - but it was still good. We are still getting used to the town, but it's nice. Classes start tomorrow. Ugh.
