Hello lovely people!

I am so pleased that I was recommended this website - it means I get to communicate with you all and vice versa! :-)

Flight from Heathrow to Munich and onto St Petersburg was fine. We were dropped off to Heathrow by my friend Kat - we stayed at hers the night before in Windsor and had a few beers and a fantastic meal. Unfortuntately I didn't sleep much - as a result of nerves and alcohol. We were dropped off at Heathrow at about 4.30 and enjoyed at a fry up in Wetherspoons at Heathrow at 5.45 - it was fab and probably our last one before we get back next year.

We got body searched at Munich and ended up having to take off our boots - at one point I thought that they were going to ask me to take off my t-shirt and linen trousers - thankfully they didn't! (It wouldn't have mattered if they did, I did remember to wear matching underwear that day!)

Got to St Petersburg at 16.30 and it was boiling hot!! Managed to get a taxi to the hostel and made the welcoming committee, however we were both so tired that we ended up not being able to socialise as much as we would have - I could hardly speak and when I did i speak I had problems stringing sentences together! (Not much change there then I hear you say!)We had an early night that night!

Spent the first day bonding with the group - there are 15 of us from all over the world. Have made some fab friends from Oz - infact we are staying with them when we go to Sydney and one (Kate B) is a travel agent and is going to help us get cheap deals for accomodation in the US and Oz! Speant first day sightseeing saw The Hermitage (Winter palace) and loads of other stuff, but I can't remember!!) Went out that night and got hammered on vodka (oh, what a surprise) didn't get back to the hostel until 7am! It was so weird walking back as the sunrose and business people went to work!

The bad thing was that I got attached by mosquitos in the club - I had really awful bites. Thankfully, before we left, Doug and I had brought half of Boots with us, so have been able to treat them. (No infections present!)

St Petersburg was lovely, the Honcho, Marina was very informative and took us to lots of places that were 'very Russian'. The Summer Gardens of the Tzars were amazing! So beautiful! The weather has been boiling - 35 plus.

Love and hugs to you all xxxxxx
