My mom and I decided to go roadtripping over Mother's Day weekend.  We left May 7 from Salt Lake City and drove until late that night.  We drove through this cute little town called Lusk and started to look for a campground.  We couldn't find a campground so we ended up just pulling off the side of the road and we set up camp there!  There were cows all around and just endless fields it was so random.

In the morning we drove from Wyoming and continued on our way to Mount Rushmore.  We stopped at Hot Springs and took some photos.

In USA distance, Mount Rushmore isn't actually that far away from Utah.  It's about a 10 hour drive from Salt Lake City.  Ok well...that's the same time it took me to drive to the coast of California so I guess it's pretty far, but still I think we should have seen Mount Rushmore by now Mount Rushmore

!  My mom and I were pretty excited to make it here as it's always been a goal of ours.

The Black Hills region of South Dakota is swamped with tourist traps.  After visitng Mount Rushmore one of the more touristy things we succumbed to was Bear Country USA.  A few years ago when my I was with my family in San Antonio and we went on the drive-through animal safari and our convertable was surrounded by zebras.  So, I thought Bear Country might be good.  It was interesting, and definitely expensive!  $15 a person!!  Well, you get what you want though, plenty of bears.  I feel kinda bad that there whole like is walking around this small area getting photographed by tourists.  And I just supported that by paying to do that very thing.  Oh well.
