We returned to Bangkok for a major shopping blitz and last minute sightseeing before heading back to Australia.

Hello!
I stumbled upon your blog randomly while checking into the leech situation. I found it quite enjoyable to read. A few friends and I are planning a several month trip to south-east Asia, starting with some NGO volunteer work to help immerse us in the culture. We're all from the states, from Michigan's upper peninsula. I'm at that 'go now or never' juncture, so we intend to make this trip amazing. We plan on leaving late October or November, and staying for a few months. We're flying into Bangkok, and hope to make it to Cambodia and Laos. We are most certainly not privileged elitist American tourists and we intend to do this the right way. So that being said...got any advice? Thanks! -Christian
